Windows 11 KB5074105 is an optional non-security preview update designed for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, aimed at introducing new cross-device functionalities, enhancing multimedia capabilities for musicians, and providing critical stability patches for the operating system’s interface and core tools.
At the end of this month, Microsoft has released another optional update for Windows 11 versions 24H2 and 25H2, labeled as update code KB5074105 (builds 26100.7705 and 26200.7705). This update includes a substantial number of fixes, enhancements, and several significant new features.
Regarding new features, as previously discussed, Cross-Device Resume has become more powerful with significant improvements. Users can now directly resume Spotify sessions and even supported browser sessions from an Android device onto their PC. Additionally, the experience for musicians has been improved, with Microsoft introducing full support for MIDI 1.0 and MIDI 2.0, including MIDI ports that can be shared across different applications.
On the security side, Smart App Control can now be easily toggled on or off, and users no longer need to perform a clean installation just to manage or activate this feature. Furthermore, Windows Hello now supports external fingerprint sensors, allowing desktops or PC devices without built-in fingerprint readers to add external peripherals that will automatically support Windows Hello authentication.
For Copilot+ PCs, the AI Agent in Settings now supports more languages, including German, Portuguese, Spanish, Korean, Japanese, Hindi, Italian, and Simplified Chinese. Based on information from Microsoft’s official page, this update also brings many fixes, including resolving issues that caused Explorer.exe to hang during the first login and an unresponsive lock screen. It also fixes an error that prevented Windows Sandbox from starting and an issue where the PC would freeze when running Windows Terminal from a non-admin account.
For complete details, you can check the official Microsoft documentation. Since this is an optional update, you can skip it if you do not wish to install it. However, if you want to update your system, you can easily do so by navigating to Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates, and then downloading and installing the KB5074105 update available there.
